HISTORIC MEOPHAM - A VILLAGE OF CHARACTER
St Botolph’s church hall was once again full to capacity on Tuesday 4th February when we met to hear John Trethewey give an illustrated talk on the village of Meopham. John took a very interesting look at all the aspects of village life through the ages and of the various communities which make up the village, touching especially on the contribution made by the Tradescant family. He also spoke at length about village landmarks such as the famous windmill and paid particular tribute to the late James Carley, who did so much to record and promote the history of the village over the years. This was a very interesting talk, warmly appreciated by the large audience.
